a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming homeless shelters into centers of empowerment and opportunity. Our innovative approach combines the provision of shelter with comprehensive cybersecurity profession training services, helping individuals experiencing homelessness gain the skills they need to secure sustainable employment.
By reorganizing the existing MVF (Michigan Veterans Foundation) into a platform that offers employment agency financial contracts, we create a win-win situation for all stakeholders involved. Employers benefit from accessing a pool of trained cybersecurity professionals, while individuals experiencing homelessness gain access to valuable training and employment opportunities.
Our unique model consists of three essential agreements:
1. The employer to agency agreement allows employers to collaborate with our network and recruit skilled candidates directly from our shelter community.
2. The employee to agency agreement ensures that individuals participating in our program have access to top-notch training, mentorship, and job placement services.
3. The Public Service to Agency agreement establishes a partnership between government entities or public service organizations and our network, creating additional revenue resources for sustained growth and support.
Not only does this initiative address the critical issue of homelessness, but it also tackles the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals in today's digital landscape. By providing comprehensive training services and fostering partnerships with employers and public service organizations, we are not only changing lives but also contributing to the overall security of businesses and communities.
Our team works collaboratively with Clients.
Join us on this transformative journey as we empower individuals experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives by becoming highly skilled professionals in the dynamic field of cybersecurity. Together, we can make a lasting impact on society while creating a more inclusive and secure future for all.

Creating a comprehensive training program in cybersecurity for veterans through FedVTE can significantly enhance their skills and marketability in a growing industry.
Here's a structured approach that outlines the essential components of such a program:
Start by assessing the current skills and experience levels of the veterans to tailor the training accordingly. A blended learning model could be effective, combining online courses with hands-on labs, practical exercises, and mentorship. This includes foundational courses in information security and risk management before moving into advanced topics such as penetration testing, incident response, and threat intelligence.
Integrate a schedule that systematically covers key areas over 9 to 12 months. This could include courses on network security fundamentals, compliance regulations (e.g., NIST, HIPAA), and best practices in cloud security. Incorporate real-world scenarios and case studies to enhance learning and retention.
Networking opportunities are vital—encourage participation in cybersecurity workshops, webinars, and conferences. Collaboration with industry professionals will provide insights and potentially lead to job opportunities post-training.
Finally, consider certification preparation as part of the program, focusing on relevant credentials like CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). Providing veterans with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in certifications can significantly boost their confidence and employability in the cybersecurity landscape.
By implementing this structured yet flexible program, veterans can transition smoothly into cybersecurity roles, leveraging FedVTE’s resources and community support. This approach not only equips them with necessary technical skills but also fosters a sense of belonging in the evolving tech landscape.
